Class Values

Our class will spend an extensive amount of time discussing our classroom values. All children are expected to model our classroom values at all times.

1.This is a class that shows kindness.

2.This is a class that laughs daily.

3.This is a class that thinks critically.

4.This is a class that works hard.

5.This is a class that learns from our mistakes.

6.This is a class that shares.

7.This is a class that respects others.

8.This is a class that cares deeply.

Dress Code

Please dress your child in comfortable clothes. We will be busy moving around and doing many art projects throughout the year.

We will use dry erase markers in the classroom.  I have made a special effort to make sure the markers the students will use are washable but I do have some that are not washable.  Keep this in mind when dressing your child.  Some marks may not wash out of their clothing.

Our classroom temperature changes often throughout the day. We recommend sending a lightweight sweater or sweatshirt to school each day.

The children frequently misplace clothing items throughout the school year. Please make sure every article of clothing your child may remove at school is clearly labeled with his/her name. This includes jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, and ALL winter gear.

Curriculum

We use the Emerging Language & Literacy Curriculum, Everyday Mathematics, and Fundations.

The Emerging Language & Literacy Curriculum (ELLC) prepares preschoolers for success in kindergarten and gives them a strong foundation in oral language and literacy with this scientifically based curriculum. This program not only addresses all developmental domains with theme-based units, children's literature, multisensory activities, scaffolded instruction and parental involvement but also creates an engaging environment with activity and play-based learning.

Everyday Mathematics is a comprehensive program that uses concrete, real-life examples.  It offers repeated exposure to mathematical concepts and skills.  It also uses multiple methods and problem-solving strategies to teach pre-kindergarten mathematic concepts and skills.

Fundations provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling, and handwriting program. Pre-K students focus on phonemic awareness and letter formation
